Highlights from the annual Durango High School Music Showcase
Earlier this month we sponsored the annual Durango High School Music Showcase! This concert brings local elementary and middle school students to see the Durango High School jazz band, concert band, drum line, pep band, choirs, and orchestras to encourage them to get involved in music as they get older. This concert is a great opportunity for younger students to learn more about the music education options that are available to them.
The importance of music education and its impact on students’ lives cannot be overstated, and we as an organization are committed to helping our area youth discover and have equal access to the power of music.
Programs such as the annual High School Music Showcase, as well as all of our education programs, help inspire and foster an appreciation of music in younger generations, as well as increase participation in school music programs.
Thank you to each of the student performers who helped bring this concert to life, and to all the students and teachers who joined in, including Durango High School conductors Mark Walser, Alex McComas-Finley, and Ben Mattson.
