Introducing our new Artistic Director
Say hello to Vadim Gluzman!
We are thrilled to announce the appointment of internationally renowned violinist, and longtime friend of the festival, Vadim Gluzman as our new Artistic Director!
Celebrated for his extraordinary artistry and leadership through his roles as both an actively concertizing violinist and the founder of the acclaimed North Shore Chamber Music Festival in Chicago, Vadim will bring his visionary approach to the festival, beginning with the 2025 season.

Born in the Ukraine and an Israeli citizen, Vadim has captivated audiences around the world with his virtuosic performances and illuminating interpretations. His wide-ranging career includes collaborations with leading orchestras and conductors globally, as well as critically acclaimed recordings. Gluzman plays the legendary 1690 ‘ex-Leopold Auer’ Stradivari, on extended loan to him through the generosity of the Stradivari Society of Chicago.
Vadim has deep roots with Music in the Mountains. Our fruitful relationship began in 1997 through his involvement with the Music in the Mountains Conservatory under the leadership of then Conservatory Director, Arkady Fomin. In the nearly 30 years since then, Vadim has become a favorite on our festival stages as a soloist, director, and chamber musician.
As Artistic Director, Vadim will be responsible for curating the festival’s program, attracting top-tier musicians, and ensuring that Music in the Mountains continues to be a beacon of cultural and social excellence.
His industry-wide esteem and extensive network will help heighten awareness of the organization’s profile both nationally and internationally, and his commitment to education and outreach aligns with our mission to nurture the next generation of classical musicians, and to broaden the community’s access to the arts.
Vadim’s longstanding involvement with the festival represents an important bridge from our storied past to an ambitious vision for future seasons, and we know under Vadim’s leadership, our beloved festival is poised to continue our standard of excellence while embracing new and exciting artistic initiatives.

Vadim’s inaugural season as Artistic Director promises to have a vibrant and dynamic lineup of performances.
His first act as Artistic Director was to appoint the 2025 season’s conductor-in-residence, Daniel Raiskin. As Principal Conductor of the Slovak Philharmonic Orchestra in Bratislava, Music Director of the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra, and Principal Guest Conductor of the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra, we cannot wait to welcome Maestro Raiskin to the stage in Durango next July!
